What is Silicium ?

Devlog #01

Hi there!

I'm François, a game developer from France behind the survival game Silicium. This is the first of a series of posts about the game and the process of making it. Today I would like to give you a quick overview of the game.

This was originally sent to our newsletter subscribers a few months ago, posting it here for those who missed it

Let's dive right in!

Silicium is a harsh survival game where you play as a robot sent to a mining planet by a giant corporation. You have to explore, scavenge, extract resources, craft new gear, build your base and combat creatures to survive.

Resources:

There are many resources in the world. The first 3 you will encounter are biomass, minerals and iron. You will need the correct tool to collect them.

Craft:

With these resources, you can craft new items and build your base. Most items in the game can be made in 3 different tiers: Primitive, Advanced and Tech.

Drones:

At night, dangerous creatures roam the planet. They are old mining drones that were abandoned here for too long and lost their minds. They drop precious resources but be careful not to die!

Goal:

You can unlock new items and recipes using credits. To gain credits you have to extract and refine precious resources and export them back to the corporation using transport rockets. The more you extract and the more precious the resource, the more credits you gain at the end of your run.

Gamemodes:

You will be able to play the game multiple ways: Solo / Coop: Complete the game at your own pace solo or with your friends. PvP: Jump into 24/7 online servers and try to survive for as long as possible. It's a giant sandbox with no rules and where death is permanent. Team up or eliminate the competition.
